Government Affairs Update: Storms of September

 

Congress has returned from the August recess and the immediate concerns of hurricanes Harvey and Irma have postponed starting on the promised tax reform. In addition, President Trump has come to an agreement with Congressional Democrats that raises the debt ceiling and funds the Government, but those issues will need to be taken up again in three months. Ed Orlet tells us what's going on with the issues that NAED members care about – tax reform, LIFO, health care reform, and marketplace fairness.

Ed Orlet, NAED Senior Vice President of Government Affairs & Strategic Projects and NAED Interim CEO, serves as a facilitator for diverse distributor and cross-industry groups, as well as moderating industry panels nationwide. Before joining NAED in 2001, Orlet worked as a distributor salesperson to mechanical contracting and OEM markets. He has more than 20 years’ experience in distribution and sales to construction, institutional, and industrial customers. He also worked on the legislative staff in the Illinois State Senate. Ed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
