Tips from an EPEC Reviewer

I have been an EPEC reviewer for the past 14 years and I work for Nedco, a division of Rexel Canada, as a Branch Operations Manager. I got involved in the EPEC course as a management trainee. Early in my career at Nedco, we were involved in all sorts of training from various suppliers, but the part of the program I always liked the best was the EPEC course. It is a course that brings everything together for you and teaches you the interrelationships of all the items we sell in the industry.

After completing the EPEC course I inquired about becoming a reviewer. I was inspired to help others taking the course and pass on any of my product knowledge and hints to complete the course. After becoming a reviewer, I helped to develop the kick off webinars that we still use to this day, because getting started is half the battle. The NAED team is committed to giving the students all the tools possible to help them complete all the various EPEC levels. The most frequently asked question I receive from students are simple tips and best practices to help them complete the course. So, I thought I’d share a few with you.

  1. While doing the course, commit to a certain number of hours per week to working on it.
  2. If you are having trouble answering any questions, use the EPEC forum; which has questions others of had and answered by the EPEC reviewers.
  3. Don’t be afraid to ask fellow workers and supplier sales reps for help. You will be surprised at how accommodating people can be.

The main piece of advice I can give is to keep going with the course once you start. Like anything else in life, if you put something off, you forget about it and never get back to it. Thanks for taking the course and we know the material in the course will be very helpful to you.

Happy 30th Anniversary EPEC - here’s to 30 more epic years!
